In a matter of days, we'll be seeing our little cousin. This Fisher Price Children's Hospital was her father's sometime in the late 70s. Probably around the time he was the age she is now.
We've had it for a number of years, but it's our cousin who should really have it. I've cleaned it up and located all its furniture and maimed little people. (Martha's not happy that we're giving it to her for Christmas.)
Here's our cousin the last time we saw her. She's highly entertaining, highly acrobatic, highly spontaneous and we love playing with her. No one batted an eyelid when she decided to demonstrate her gymnastic prowess shortly after main course.
My favourite part of the Fisher Price Children's Hospital is that it still contains an eye-chart which my other brother made. It's been stuck on the second-floor wall for the last 30-odd years. What a sympathetic child he was ... possibly part-Mayan.
Recognise these two? Little nuggets of gold.
Speaking of gold, here they are.
I'd like to wish each one of you a very Merry Christmas. Thank you for reading this blog. Blogs are serious business now-days, and this one just hasn't kept up with the pace. But it's lovely to connect with like-minded souls and you always makes such valuable comments and always say such nice things. So have a lovely break over the New Year, stay safe and stay groovy.xo

Awww... Happy Christmas to you! I hope your little niece enjoys that hospital as much as you do. I love your little Gold Nuggets.

That Fisher Price set IS gold! I'm with Martha, I wouldn't want to give it up! Are those other gold nuggets twins, or just born close together? I'm never quite sure. I LOVE your blog, always guaranteed a smile without all the schmaltz! Keep it exactly as it is, I say. Just keep doing it please! Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteThe hospital is so cool, and the eye chart is great! And, as usual, the little nuggets are adorable!
ReplyDeleteRight back at you. I too have not kept up the pace, but hey, Oprah dropped the ball before we did, and we both know that was our destiny. Love your posts whenever you manage them. Happy Christmas days to you and your brood. xxx
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas to you and the Solid Gold Dancers. You never fail to give me a chuckle!
ReplyDeleteAll gold to me! The Shepherds must be ditching Bethlehem and high tailing it to your place! Keep blogging, keep groovy, cause its in the heart! Merry Christmas! Xx
ReplyDeleteCarmel, there is no such thing as keeping up with the pace if it's not your own. Post when you feel like it, not when you think you should. That what a blog is about! Fun time and connecting with other people. We are so stuck with the idea of being productive whatever we do and that is such a waste of precious mental and physical energies. If the fun is gone, what's left?
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas to you too! Sadly, I won't have any break. And yes I have a family of hedgehogs living in my garden.
That eye-chart is solid gold. Merry Christmas to you and yours Carmel. I so love your posts, I think it makes me feel just a little bit cool having a lawyer friend. Take care.
ReplyDeleteOh Carmel. You never fail to elicit a smile from me. You are an unparalleled dead-set legend. Fin. J x
ReplyDeleteAnyone who can find ALL the BITS to 30 year old second generation inherited fisher price houses deserves a merry christmas, if you ask me. Have a good one! Love your blog, btw. Keep those pics of chocolate brown planters and shag-pile carpet coming our way, sister ;)
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas to you and your nuggetty offspring, Carmel. What a year it has been. Last time we saw each other you still didn't have a job and I still had hair! Fast times in the Western suburbs!
ReplyDeleteThis week three carloads of Fisher Price and other accoutrement went to Rob and Brian for whosoever may need it now. I cannot store things for the future any more. (Maybe just a couple.)
I think there are business blogs and people blogs and some mix also them up successfully. Maybe we're just the people blog types.
It's a lovely way to keep up with busy friends in our overfilled lives.
Have a felice navidad and give DMC a big hug for me!

Merry Christmas Carmel. May the solid gold dancers rock gently and quietly over the Christmas holidays. Enjoy your break. And I always enjoy my visits here. xx
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas to you and the solid golds. Ah the mysterious never before seen fisher price hospital. Glorious. We have had to defect to sylvanian families for our hit of public service medical care. Serious business blogs are boring and safe, would rather come here any day. If you start doing posts for Woolworths I will personally come over and remove all those vintage fisher price items for safekeeping. mel x
ReplyDeleteThe eye chart was then a real fixture in his young life.
ReplyDeleteSo, he obviouly needed to spread it around.
Long live FisherPrice.
I hope your Christmas was as groovy as you are.
And, Annie, an enorminous hug right back.
I'm thinking of you a lot lately as the dreaded radioT catches up with the self.
Gold indeed. Merry Christmas, groovy Carmel!! I can't keep up either. Cx
ReplyDeletemerry merry, in delay,
ReplyDeleteand a happy, smashing, healthy, laughing, loving, breathing 2013!
hugs!
