The third house on the tour was DALTON HOUSE 1971.
Designed by Brisbane's award-winning John Dalton, who designed a number of houses in the Western suburbs. You recall my previous post on his own house in Fig Tree Pocket.
Again, we were fortunate enough to be given the tour by the owners who always seem to be very generous with their time and shocked at the public interest in their homes.
Such a simple home, the design of which maximises breeze and light without any fuss.
This house is deceptively large, with storage everywhere and wonderful high ceilings. From memory, its seen the raising of five children - some of whom had to share rooms. Those were the days. When kids shared rooms.
The owners had great taste in furniture and Scandinavian homewares.
Mobiles are de rigueur.
D-handles are also de rigueur.
Built-ins. Dalton nailed it.
There's the generous owner. I think he's an architect too. They're everywhere!
Looks like a great space. I too am quite the fan of D-handles. That's what I had at the little modernist nest.
