I've heard that 'Greeting' irritates some readers! That's what I'm here for, You Three! If there's anything else about this blog that irritates you, just tell me, because I'll do it more often! Ha! Ha!
We had a good day today ... it's a Federal election, for you Readers who aren't Australian.
I used to be a political animal. Truly! A snarling, growling, dyed-in-the-wool, vicious "How to Vote" card! That was me ... I won't go into it ... but I'm not a political animal anymore ... I've got other things to worry about ... and I've become cynical ... and now I'm more concerned with the direction of the forks in the dishwasher, and whether the mailman's come or not.
Anyway, despite my cynicism, this election looks like it's going to be close! And that makes for good TV ... I'm stuck to it. Let's just say, 'Giddy-up Coalition!' ... that may upset some Readers ... either way, it's nail-biting!
The Husband is yelling:
"Dutton's ahead!"
"Maxine's lost!"
"Shut up, you lot!"
"I think the buggars are over the line!"
"Come on, Western Australia!"
"Antony Green lives for figures!"
"Tony's dead-set given this a shake!"
Apart from that, we invited all our friends over for some afternoon tea/sausages/fondue to acknowledge Child 4's inaugural year.
All our friends came. All three of them!
I experimented with a fondue ...
I didn't use this book ... it just emphasises "Fondue".
Tip for fondues ... make sure there's more than three of you ... and eat it really quickly because it curdles, like scrambled eggs. But I'd do it again ... I just need to 'up' my numbers.
I used this 'left-of-centre' flammable gel ...
Let me say, it is difficult to source. Bunnings - no. Camping stores - no. Westfield kitchen shops - no. Executive Chef South Brisbane - yes! Go there ... the Husband says it is a veritable smorgasbord for cooking enthusiasts!
We sat around and talked about chickens ... I discovered one of my guests is a chicken murderer! ...
We talked politics ... "Don's party" ... blogs (whether we like them or not. I like them. And you? I like you.) ... other people ... houses ... and generally we had a nice time.
This is all of 'us' ... bar some of our heads ...
Thank goodness for the Godmother, because Child 4 wouldn't have had a cake otherwise! Sloppy mother.
We love Marimekko and beads!
Anyway, it looks like Emo Child 1 was also running in this election ... see her placards!
I'm not sure she got many votes!
I think I fall into the 'Losers' category! Which means I'm banned from entering her room ... thus banned from cleaning it!
Remember, however the election falls, there's always a 'loser'. And he/she deserves a hug. Go on ... hugs!

How come the ABC is the only channel with up to date figures? You could almost say they've got someone on the inside ;-).
ReplyDeleteThe Husband! I can't believe how rabid he is! Has mentioned how he can't quite believe how different the various channels are in their 'reading' of the results. I trust the ABC ... bit 'old school'. (Like your emoticon wink!)
ReplyDeleteHow did the election turn out? I'm only politically minded during election day, if you don't vote you can't complain is my motto. Love child 4's smocked frock. Did you build it? Looks like a lovely day had by all, although headless.
ReplyDeletehi hi, love the door sign:)
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had a really nice day!! Had a giggle at child 1's election! Waking up to no decision and maybe a hung parliament today was a bit of a bummer - guess we'll know soon enough. With you on the Marimekko love - I have a big wall hanging of some original fabric in my house - you can see it on my blog. Hope you have a great Sunday. Michelle
ReplyDeleteDeb,
ReplyDeletevoting's compulsory in Australia ... it sounds like it's not in Canada? Is that right? And we still don't know the result - possibly a hung parliament, so goodness knows what that means in reality. Another election in the short-term? Who knows.
The political changes/shananigans/craziness over the last few months is just asking for someone to do a Thesis on it! I may take on that challenge! I wouldn't be surprised if the PM (before he was kicked out by his Party just prior the election) makes a Phoenix-like comeback!
Hviit and Paper Tree, Child 1 thinks she's a tweenie Vampire/witchy-poo/skateboard demon thing ... her signs regularly change and are always damning of someone!
Paper Tree Michelle, I have seen your Marimekko wall hanging! It has my tick of quiet approval!
Yours in sitting out the results,
Hoorah for hung parliaments. How excitingly different. Who can say what the future will bring our little island in the sun.
ReplyDeleteVoting is not mandatory here. I think you people have the better idea! We've had a minority government in the lase two elections.
ReplyDeleteYours in democracy,
Most memorable election...."Obama is the 44th president of the United States...." one of the high points of my life, right next to child birth. Love that man, love Michelle, love his girls. We cried, we shouted, we did somersaults in in the livingroom. Still love him. He is the Man!
ReplyDeletep.s. Love fondue too..I have quite a collection of pots going. Would you like to come to a fondue party? Nobody gets it here.
ReplyDeleteMCM,
ReplyDeletethis election doesn't quite have the same historical qualities as the Obama election had!
And I'd love to come to a fondue party! Even if to see how one does it properly.
Deb,
I didn't build the smock dress. Doubt I'll ever be that proficient. It came from Hong Kong via C4's Godmother ... it has a 'Smock Shop' tag ... so there must be a shop over there that sells lovely dresses etc.
Fondue = FUN DO!
