Today

Don't let anyone who works for the Government tell you there ain't perks. A day-off-a-month is perk-enough for me. So I took today off and did something I've been meaning to do for months.

I patched-up 'Original Spotty Cat'. I wonder if you can pick him next to the newer Spotty Cat? Bet you can't!

And then I went to Bunnings and invested in some plastic crates. I'm not averse to plastic crates for storing toys, baby clothes and primary school ephemera.

And I ended the day, by spending some time with my kindy pal.

It was all old school books.

Old school puzzles.

Old school crafts.

Old school dress-ups followed by some old school ribbon dancing.

Here's some more puzzles.

Thanks for your thoughtful comments on the previous post.

Go on, have yourself an ice-cream in a cone. You deserve one.

  1. Ooo I love spotty cat!! Did you make them, originally I mean? We're all over the plastic crate in this place. There are actually a lot of perks in the public service aside from flex day - my first job was at AGS (Australain Government Solicitor) in Canberra and they literally had a birthday morning tea every day which of course went for about an hour every time. You had a lovely day today, I'm very impressed with your craftiness. I like it myself but struggle to do it with the kids. Mel x

    1. Mel, no I bought Spotty Cat/s. They're made by BlaBla Kids (or something along those lines). I really like their range of soft toys. I think I bought Spotty Cat originally for Solid Gold Dancer#2, but for some reason #3 took to him, and then hugged him bare. I know what you mean about PS 'celebrations'. I have a lunch tomorrow for a colleague going on mat. leave and then a morn. tea for her on Monday.

    1. I'll join you on the Old School Bandwagon. Here's to Old School. And what's with young'uns getting so many tattoos now-a-days? Every young thing I see has a series of serious tatts.

  9. Make sure Solid Gold Dancer #4 sucks the life out of Kindy because once she hits Prep, she will have to hit the ground running! Miss Flea, now in Yr 1, has been telling me all about verbs. Good god!

    1. Verbs. Ye gods! Children now are so savvy. Too savvy sometimes. Shaking my head at Miss Flea's cleverness.

  10. Can I come work for your government? My sense of humor has gone astray today, fair warning. I think no matter which cat is the Original SpottedCat, the two have definitely patched up their friendship. I missed your blog the other day about sponsored blogs, so, if you don't mind, I will comment now. I don't generally like sponsored blogs because the advertising tends to inhibit the blogger. I get the impression the blogger is speaking to someone other than me, and consequently the posts tend to be colder and more distant. The whole point of blogging was the free flow of information, including the viewpoint of the blogger and the commenters. Blogging has created new communities and friendships. Instead of a community based on geography, we have communities based on common interests. But it is a community, not a television show or magazine. Some sponsored bloggers have managed to avoid the coldness, and those bloggers have more of " hell, if the sponsors drop me, they drop me," attitude. I like those blogs. The other day I was working on my iPad, and one commercial email after another kept popping up. It dawned on me that instead of being hit by ads while watching TV, I was now living day and night with ads. So, I canceled that function of the iPad; no more notifications of commercial emails, I watch very little TV, and when I blog or read blogs, please no ads!

    1. Neensy, I like a rant. You go for it. I'm cyber high-fiving you. Sponsored posts are too forced. Today's world is too commercial. Everyone wants to make a buck. I'm thinking of a garage sale, so I'm probably as mercenary as the next man. Get tucked into that miniture house of yours. That'll take some of the edge off.

  11. I want Martha. I need someone to play with. I'm not very much into puzzles ( but the cats love them ) but I'm a fabulous ribbon dancer. Please?
