Every Saturday night on ABC2 they show a Woody Allen movie. I'm loving it. Even the not-so-great movies such as 'Play It Again Sam' are so funny to me and so inspirational in terms of clothes and interiors. I'm now on the hunt for an indoor palm. A huge one. I'll get one next weekend. I promise.
Today was so beautiful. I'm itching for summer.
We're having a few mouse problems. Poor Korean H is scared stiff. A mouse trap went off in her room last night about mid-night and she texted me (yes, we live in the same house) and said she couldn't sleep in her room, she was going to sleep with Child 3. I didn't read her text until this morning.
Child 3 told me this morning that he felt someone patting his head in the middle of the night and he thought it was a zombie.
I love this table. It has funky doors. Grandma and Grandad don't need it any more I don't think!
Here's Grandad pow-wowing with his i-phone.
Grandma's been knitting. I love all her knitted stuff. So do the kids.
Thank goodness for Grandma. She diagnosed the school sore on Child 3's chin, which I just thought was a scab from falling over. I'm yet to tell Korean H she slept with a pustule-covered germ-pit.
Shirts.
On Friday, my french-cuffs kicked up their little cuff-linked heels at a swanky French cafe which is just across the road from work. I'm thinking some macaroons may be the thing for Korean H's birthday in a couple of weeks.
I can't pretend any more to anyone I could bake her a cake.
Don't you just love Bitossi? I do. Why is it so?
Apologies to the Instagrammers. You've seen these photos before.
I wonder if I can put an Instagram button on the side? Anyone done that?
Watermelons.
Next weekend we're buying a palm, some orthodics for Child One, and going to the school fete. Hands up who's in?

Can't wait to be trailing along beside you on instagram next weekend. You write such good meaty posts that I get to the end of them and loose my train of thought and have to scroll back up to remember what I want to say...it could be early on set dementia of course. I never rule that one out. Oh yes love the shirt pic, so neat and organised and stripy. Grandma and Grandpa sound like my kind of people. I love all their stuff and do believe it is your duty to help them downsize. I particularly love that Beenie. Oh and Woody Allen, I've said it before I totally agree on every aspect. I wish I could live in Hannah and her Sisters, I could enter the movie purple rose of Cairo style. THat is my dream. Oh the palm you know where your going to get a good one of those...have a great week at work love seeing your outfits and accessories. Phew long comment. Sorry. xx
ReplyDeleteI always feel so comfy and at home when I visit your blog. Plus you always make me laugh!
ReplyDeleteI'm in, I'm in! I feel so left out with the instagram thing. You know we can't even get cell phone reception in our house? I need a house sitter for three weeks. Are you in?
ReplyDeletep.s. You're funny. I had a huge palm and got rid of it. Are we still friends?
I had a very large palm in my living room for ages, but it became infested with spider mites and met its demise. I really should get another one. Good luck on your search for one.
ReplyDeleteThat watermelon is amazing, as is the Bitossi. Who can resist it? I also like Grandma and Grandpa's table. Did you talk them out of it?
OBH, I do know where I'm going to get a good palm. The Garden Centre! I've never been. I think you'd get along like a house on fire with my parents.
ReplyDeleteDear Kimmie, thank you. That's one of the nicest things anyone's ever said about this blog. I sometimes wonder how people perceive it. I post these things and think, god that's boring!
Deb,
I'd love to house-sit in the wilds of Canada for three weeks, and though Canadian quarantine wouldn't let-in Child 3.
Dana,
table's a fixture. I could imagine you with a palm. My plants generally meet an early death too.
Yay for school-transmitted infections! Finally seeing the sun here today after what seems a ridiculously long and wet week. The sun's brought with it a frosty nip in the air though. Have a tolerable week back at the salt mine. I always look forward to your weekends, well imagine you do too.
ReplyDeleteIsn't there always one child in the family who's destined to be the infested child?
DeleteSometimes I feel left behind in the slipstream of your posts. Even Grandad is ahead with his iphone. I'm comfortable with Grandma and those rainbow knits - Go Grandma! Did you iron all those shirts? I love ironing. Though I don't do it much these days to Mr EM's disappointment as he sadly eyes the ever increasing pile of his creased laundry items. I need a muse. But once I'm started there's no stopping me. And what on earth are orthodics? Feet - teeth? As for macaroons - they are so last year. ( But if you have any spare please send them to me post haste as I'm always happy to help out.)Cx
ReplyDeleteI keep saying it MMMC, you crack me up! You are so clever. I'm with Kimmie, you blog is such a nice, funny place to visit. You make a great story out of everyday life. I love it.
ReplyDeleteI watched Midnight in Paris the other week and LOVED it!! Need to watch it again.
When I bought this Federation home I was desperate for a palm too. I bought one and I just can't seem to get it to grow. It is a midget palm (can I say that) but I wanted something lush and glamourous!
xx
PS, yes, you can get an Instagram badge - I have one on my page. Google BadgePlz and you should find it :)
DeleteYou are SO hilarious! We have mice too.
ReplyDeleteAn indoor palm may be just what the bush turkeys need to again be invited into your warm nest/mound.
ReplyDeleteHave you noticed that you have some matching shirts or do you iron blindfold?
Good luck with the scabies on the chin.
Are they your shirts??? Are they your watermelons??? I know you wish that was your bitossi. I saw some of that movie the other night - right near the scene you have depicted. I got very excited and settled in, then was very disappointed by the conversation and Woody's haircut and turned it off after 2 minutes. I didn't think I would ever do that.
ReplyDeleteSchool sores are as hard to get rid of as nits. I have yet to find a "impetigo man" but if he out there I will let you know.
You do manage to squeeze a lot into your blogs and your weekends. What's this instagram thing. Actually, don't tell me, I do not need another distraction.
I actually think Play it Again Sam is a great movie Carmel. I'm a bit sad you don't think so. What about that beach house eh?
ReplyDeleteMs E-M,
ReplyDeletethose shirts aren't mine. They were in a shirt shop. I iron one thing at a time, quickly and begrudgingly. And orthodics are ridiculously expensive inner-soles which podiatrists make mothers believe they need to buy for their flat-footed children.
Deb, you have moose.
DMC, those shirts are in a shop that ct put me onto.
Reader 3, I agree with you re the Woody Allen. His air really made me feel uncomfortable. I had rather a lengthy discussion about it with the husband. Did you see the hairdryer scene? I was in stitches. You don't need instagram, but maybe I'll tell you next time I see you.
School sores are gross.
Kylie,
The interiors (Beach House was fab) and fashion were the best bit about Play It Again. I loved the slapstick in it, particularly the record player scene and the hairdryer scene. I just wasn't too fussed on the talking to Bogart stuff. And Woody's hair was wrong. In other movies it hasn't bothered me. 'Sleeper' is next week.
I
I think woody has passed me by entirely, I kill maidenhead ferns, can't get my boobs into nice striped shirts, love instagram and will steal the bitossi collection when I get the chance! I too love the witticisms and antidotal humour of this blog allot! Your ace Carmel!
ReplyDeleteI keep falling asleep before Woody gets fired up. Ah, Saturday night. What has become of you?
ReplyDeleteYou can dig a palm up here if you like. We are cutting the suckers down at the moment!
P.S. 'Hannah and her Sisters' is one of my favourites too, Ms Boathouse.
I watched the end of that movie and spent the whole time checking out the background. Love a good indoor palm. You'd think the inside of our place is the garden with how much I can overdo palms and palm frongs. I spray the frongs with water once a week, seems to stop the dust and creatures settling.x
ReplyDeleteI wasn't overly fussed by the Bogart convos either Carmel, but I did like the movie even though everyone else (Woody included) thinks it was a flop. I like his hair. And his freckles. Is Sleeper the spacey one?
ReplyDeletex
Please tell me the mouse didn't die. Oh come on, tell korean H to give the mouse a name and adopt it. I live in open country but mice never tried to come inside our houses. Maybe it's all the cat food leftovers I leave for them outside.
ReplyDeleteI adore Woody. And yes the style in his movies is always stunning. that's why I have a palm in my shop. Ooops. Deb told me not to tell you.
I keep missing your posts! So I am a week out of sync. I saw your palm just before on instagram and didn't understand the woody reference until now!
ReplyDeletePoor Korean H. What is she going to do when summer hits and all the creepy crawlies are out in force...? xx
