With a new au pair in our house (she says 'shit' a lot which is amusing everyone), I've had cause to think about au pairs we've known and loved.
Kirsti from Finland.
Kirsti loved reading trashy celebrity mags and knew all about Alvar Aalto (could you ask more of a babysitter? I don't think so).
Hyejin from South Korea who laughed at everything I said (could you ask more of a babysitter? I don't think so).
And was so loving, so caring and so willing to dance to Gangnam Style.
Semi from South Korea who was so patient and kind.
And who constantly texted me to remind me to praise my sons for their good behaviour, when she knew I was frustrated at their boyishness (could you ask more of a babysitter? I don't think so).
I feel I am lucky to have had these young women in our lives.

Love this post:)
ReplyDeleteYou've really had a great bunch of girls! They've all brought wonderful traits to the table, which your kids will remember all their lives. That's really an enriching experience for them.
ReplyDeleteSo lovely but bittersweet too, making memories! xx
ReplyDeleteThey all seem so lovely - a top knotch group of au pairs. Great experience for the children. Must be hard for you to say goodbye to the good ones you've had.
