These items are just for me and would sit nicely on a desk while I ponder the big issues and the mundane issues.
These models seem to be the latest in the Lego Architecture series. Above is Mies van der Rohe's Farnsworth House.
Which one's the Lego Farnsworth House and which one's the actual one-room, rural weekender on the Fox River, Plano Illinois? You tell me.
And here we have Robie House designed by my good personal friend, Frank Lloyd Wright.
I'd like to say I constructed these Lego models myself, and took the actual photos on a sunny day, but I didn't. The good people at Lego did that for me. You can visit them HERE.
I've got to say, nothing gets me quite as excited as these Lego models. They're brilliant.
I'm also working on a Christmas Book List as well as a Danish Mid-Century ceramics list. Interested in seeing those?

OK - STOP talking about Christmas, now.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
(Quite like the Lego architectural models though...)
Yes and yes, definatly! We have a lego guggenheim that sits on the computer desk. Rather than it elevating us, it's turned into a scraps of paper with phone numbers on it holder...
ReplyDeleteThere will be no talk of Christmas in the house as a small but defiant gesture against all shops flogging it in September. I hope your good husband is privy to the list though!
ReplyDeleteI would like to see your lists. I'm nice like that.

I still can't get past the painful memories of stepping on legos in the dead of night on the way to the bathroom. I don't think I'll welcome them into my home anytime soon...but they are lovely to look at on the computer.
ReplyDeleteWhat else is on your list?
MS E-M,
ReplyDeleteI don't know what came over me! You know that I know how much you detest the early on-set of consumer-geared marketing pushes which are really religious celebrations.
Max,
aren't you worried your Guggenheim will be taken apart or, God forbid, played with by someone other than yourself? Ours is behind glass and up high. Yes. It is.
Annie,
the husband doesn't read the blog unless I'm too tired to talk, and then I'll refer him to a post which gives him an idea of what's been going on.
Deb, you are nice. I'll reveal my lists just for you then.
MCM,
you may need hypnotherapy to rid you of those memories. I know that pain. It never leaves you.
Yep, interested. Very. If only I were a psychologist I could have a field day :)
ReplyDeleteSounds like you'll soon be too busy to be a lawyer - could you become one specialising in sorting out inheritance arguments over who gets the mid-century vases, or conveyancing law selling swanky mid-century houses? We have a lot of lego in this house too - at the moment its a huge wrestling stadium; architect unknown ;) x
ReplyDeleteCan we please meet for real? I want to spend an afternoon talking about architecture, playing with moomins and building legos. Please.
ReplyDeleteLegoman is not surprisingly impressed by this list. Are you planning the builds yourself or outsourcing? melx
ReplyDeleteOh my. That Robie House would be a perfect baby space family Christmas present!
