Yesterday I went to South Brisbane to see a lawyer about how difficult it is to become a lawyer. I wore pink which sent Martha into some sort of pink ecstasy.
I love french cuffs and the opportunity for cufflinks which they so naturally afford.
I've had these cufflinks for some time. They're 'vintage' and have little embroidered flowers under a glass dome. I spend a lot of time looking at them. Yes.
I find the whole job-searching experience extremely frustrating.
I have never felt so old and so bogged-down with children and domesticia.
Who doesn't love an Art Gallery store?
Dinosaur Designs should send something 'round and tactile' to every woman who's facing breast cancer. I think that'd lift their and the Nation's spirits. Though, of course, that may send them broke.
I also visited the State Library bookshop.
I was told by the woman behind the counter that this was 'just in'.
It looks good with simple delicious recipes that everyone can eat.
I had to stop myself at leaving with only three books.
I bought this one for the Husband, because he saw a piglet the other week and hasn't stopped talking about how cute it, and its springy tail, was.
I know Fiona has read this book. I first heard it read on 'Playschool'. I've been looking for it ever since.
If I were you, I'd race out, buy it and read it to someone.

Yes Pig tails are just delightful. Your shirt and cuff links are very elegant. I think you are really onto something with the dinosaur design thing. xx Katherine
ReplyDeleteYou made Martha's day by wearing pink. Pig books, interesting! You are all wise, all knowing.

Anna turned up here with a bit of vintage Dinosaur Design on and it lifted my spirits considerably. We must e-mail the Olsens immediately re their charitable donations to the cause. Perhaps they can do rainbow foot jewellery!
ReplyDeleteThe 'bog down' is from the moving, love. You'll be your sprightly self when the ripples settle. What did your advisor advise about the law/ job thing?
Didn't George Clooney keep a Vietnamese Pot-Bellied pig as a pet? I love your cufflinks - they're so purrty. I'm taking your (pro bono) advice re book. And I agree with Annie - moving house is high up on the stress register. I'm giving myself 6 or so months to settle into the new house and a year or more to settle into the new city.
ReplyDeletePS - I also love you with all my fart. x
Oh Carmel, I'm sorry to hear the job hunt is so trying. Hang in there, my friend! J x
ReplyDeleteI'm not so sure how cute & springy that Vietnamese pot-bellied pig would be. Looks like the piggy-like security hogs who guard Jabba the Hut!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry that you're feeling bogged down. All that fart-felt love surely will help rectify the situation. You know I'm going to go and pull 'Old Pig' off the shelf now and have yet another good cry.
ReplyDeleteLove your shirt. Very lawyerly. Belated congratulations on becoming An Evil Lawyer. You will find a great position I have no doubt. xo
ReplyDeleteYour post made me sad MMMC - I feel frustrated for you. Mind you I love those cuff links - my frustration has turned to envy...
ReplyDeleteWhat is it about pig books, love a pig book and your styling! And you don't know what's around the corner? :)
ReplyDeleteI saw 2 piglets in the pet shop the other day.
ReplyDeleteThey were tucking into some straw with all their fart.
There was an sign saying they were miniature.
They were white/pink/black all over.
I thought they would be fine on the patio here.
What do you think?
The husband could come and play with their tails.
Herringbone, pink and cufflinks. Great mix!!! And sister, you are not bogged down with domestica! You're amazing to study the way you have with young kids, run a house, move house(remember i saw how much packing you needed to do!), write a blog and be really funny at the same time! She'll be right, bit of time that's all. So many rhymes from my childhood going through my head. 'The Adams family started when Uncle Fester...' xo
ReplyDeleteMy girl has a story cd of Margaret Wild stories, Old Pig is on that! Probably from an ABC shop or something! Good luck with the hunt! (job, that is)
ReplyDeleteYes, it must be frustrating, those silly buttheads don't know who they're missing out on. Put us all down as referees!!
ReplyDeleteI adore gallery shops. When I went to Europe I got so excited by the shops I perused them before I saw the art!
Ha. Love it. If you can't beat the toddler, join her ( the pink obsession). I wore a new Laura Ashley dress with birds all over it to work the other day and even Roboboy was swooning all over it.
ReplyDeleteOld pig looks very cool. It's not an old cow/new cow concept is it?. Domestica makes me feel like old cow as well. Good luck with the job hunt. Personally I would use unemployment as an excuse to go on rampant daily op shop trawls ( i make do with sneaking out at lunch time). Actually perhaps only look for gainful employment within close proximity to an op shop. that should narrow the field. melx
oh i wish you could read swedish,
ReplyDeletethen i would send you this book,
one of my favorites from childhood,
http://www.adlibris.com/se/product.aspx?isbn=9172216344
have a lovely week!
♥
Adore your pink shirt also...I can't even imagine interviewing...I'm so in awe of you out there!
ReplyDeleteYears ago when I was leaving England, a book designer friend gave me a book he had designed called "All Pigs are Beautiful". I tried not to take it personally. And now, all these years later, find other people who agree with that sentiment. I totally agree with your Dino Designs sentiment. Maybe in our spare time we can rally them to the cause. It's a good one. And Soph has asked for a full on pink party this year with a barbie in a cake. If you're not already wearing that shirt to a new job (her birthday's not til July) you might have to come along with Miss Martha. You will fit right in. Love to you.
ReplyDeleteThose french cuffs and cufflinks almoust makes me want to be a lawyer too. If I start now, I might finish before my pension :) And I agree with the husband, pigs are too lovely!
