China Town

China Town is one of my two favourite movies.

I just lent my DVD of China Town to some friends. As I handed the DVD over, I said, "China Town. It's one of my two favourite movies."

I've been looking at this DesignSponge post all day.

China Town. Have you seen it? Do yourself a favour, if you haven't.

PS. My other favourite movie is Pee Wee's Big Adventure.

(No, it's not.)

  1. No I haven't but I will do myself a favour. Is it as good as Dirty Dancing?

  3. I just looked up Wikipedia on 'China Town', and it has been described as one of the best movies ever made.

Released in 1974; directed by Roman Polanski; won one Oscar for its screenplay adaption.

    I could watch it over-and-over.

  7. I have to know - what is really your other favourite movie???

  8. Chinatown - one of those movies I saw years ago and can't remember a jot about them. Easy Rider, Serpico, The Untouchables, Love Story, The Deer Hunter - so many. I think I fall asleep. Obviously begs another viewing. I'm taken with the silk pocket square.

  10. AFW,
    Annie Hall!

    Zigs,
definitely worth another watch. I haven't heard of those other movies.

    Ariane,
I never question your English. And I do love your shoes! It's starting to get cold here so I'm thinking coloured tights and mary janes are the look this season!

  15. Can I be on the borrowing list for the movie?
I haven't even heard of it, but think Jack is always watchable.

  17. Hmm. Never seen it, but on your recommendation, I'll give it a look-see. How could a woman of your esteem not ADORE Pee-Wee's Big Adventure? Really, MMM-C, you never cease to astonish.

  18. Jack!!! I love him, no matter the movie. Chinatown is an AMAZING movie.
The style in that design sponge post is very appropriate for a future lawyer. I can see you wearing those shoes and blogging while sitting in that armchair.

  19. I haven't seen it. The last time I saw a Jack Nicholson-movie he made quite a fool of himself together with Diane Keaton (and believe it or not: Keanu Reeves), if I remember it correctly. Do not watch the movie about the two of them falling in love.

And what are the latest new from the doll's house?

  20. Wendy,
don't let the kidlets watch it. It's a bit shocking. Even for me!

    Elisabeth,
the dolls' house is progressing slowly. I don't want to bore you all with the minutia ... so I'll do a bit more and then a REVEAL!

  21. China Town is now on my bucket (not yet ready to kick one) list. I've ignored all references to Pee Wee because he has always made me feel uneasy, a little Michael Jacksonesque but slightly more disturbing (if that's possible).

  22. Love your humour...especially pointing the baby at the Kookaburra...they have such fearsome looking beaks! I used to feed them bacon back home too..it's hilarious how they have to kill everything first...focussing on Robins now though...oh and I have to find a hedgehog...saw a picture of one the other day and must see one in person! Thanks for stopping by my blog. Robx

  23. You know what, i was reading your profile the other day & saw China Town listed. As the worst movie watcher ever (remember i've never seen Grease, An Affair to Remember, Casablanca, Gone with the Wind, Pretty Woman etc) i wondered what it was about. Love a really great movie, love Posie

  25. This is currently on my 'must watch' list as I've never seen it, but a lot of people of most excellent taste keep recommending it ... I wonder if it will become one of my favourites too?
    :)
