Wow! Aren't things exciting around here?!
I did an Op Shop Drop this morning, and picked up this little Delft cow while I was there.
Hello, Lady!
But really, there's a point where I think, 'You really have enough stuff now'. So I gave some old clothes and toys away.
But some toys I just can't get rid of. Like these baby toys. They're nothing special on the scale of collectible toys, but all four kiddies have played with them. So I'll pack them away, for goodness knows what purpose.
At the Op Shop, I picked up this ridiculous tea towel, which features creatures we never see such as the Pine Marten. I've never heard of one of those. Possibly the North Hemisphere equivalent of the bush turkey, but with four legs and fur and no ability to fly.
I picked up some doilies, because in the back of my mind which is prone to start projects which never get completed, I'm thinking of making a dress for the youngest, or whomever else is inclined, with additional pockets made from doilies.
Speaking of cockamamie projects which start with a bang and end-up in the garage. See this shelf contraption? I snaffled it from the Land of Grandma.
I've sanded in a half-arsed attempt at sanding, and I have plans on painting it blue. What for? You'll just have to hang on for the crafty ride, wait and see!
Speaking of blue. Hello Ladies! The Sewing Square is going to have to reconvene soon because this little caftan number isn't sewing itself. Another cockamamie project? Quite likely.
As for this project ... we've moved it upstairs. That's good because I can look at it and make cockamamie plans. But it's bad because the baby gets into it and eats the blue-tak holding the pictures to the walls.
And she causes other things to come undone.
Oh well, the roof garden is complete. I may paint the back wall blue.
Zigsma threw some wallpaper our way! Thrilled with the orange bedroom ...
And stoked with the kitchen's wall attire. Good choices, Zigsma! Thank you.
I'm still at a loss about the lounge room. I sewed another rag rug which has developed a habit of turning-in on itself so it looks like a dome on the floor. That's 'projects' for you.
Yes, this post is drawing to a close now ...
I picked up this book at the Op Shop. I had a copy when I was a wee rabbit. Though I'm going to have to have a talk to the Op Shop Proprietor about where the staff place the price stickers. Not on the front of a cardboard book so it tears the cover!
New Yorker book blog review ... here.
Imagine that many offspring ...
I can tell you they don't do all this!
None of mine have turned out to be such Renaissance bunnies.
Good tidings.

Goodness, your bunny book reminds me of my house! And the orange bedroom is beyond fab. Bless Zigsma!
ReplyDeleteMMMC, I just love you and your cockamamie projects! Keep those half baked ideas coming...I want to see Ms. Martha in a doilie dress with her little red sandals. The dolly house is tres chic. The tea towel, ooh la la, love it!
ReplyDeleteThe Country Bunny is one of my all time favourites!!! I always remembered how amazingly detailed the images were, all the beautiful shiny eggs etc... When I picked up a copy for Eleanor, I was so surprised to find that the illustrations were far more simple than I remembered. The power of a child's imagination huh! I think that's what I love best about it...
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see what you do with the shelves...
As I like to say, one simply can't have too many cockamamie projects on the go. Nor too many weasel tea-towels.
ReplyDeleteGreat Opportunity Shopping. Can I come with you next time?
ReplyDeleteHow welcoming Horsey 1 and 2 are. Delft cow looks very happy.
ReplyDeleteThe wall paper looks fabulous. Excellent work Zigsma! So many projects. If only you had all those rabbits to assist.
Wendy,
ReplyDeleteI did think about your lot (and their lint collection) when I saw all those bunnies.
MCM, half-baked. That's what my projects are. As my projects stall and come to a complete stop, I'll keep you posted.
Stella, I remembered the pictures too. It is amazing how the infant brain remembers images. This book was also mentioned on another blog recently. I think a vintage children's book blog, I can't remember which one. I guess Easter and all ...
Fiona, a weasel towel would probably come in handy in the 4WD.
R3,
next time you're in. I think I have it down-pat ... lots of slow walking around the shelves looking non-chalant. I try and only go if I can get rid of stuff at the same time.
..... is that ASTRO TURF you've used as a backdrop for your op shop treasures?!
ReplyDeleteLove the lovely ladies Kaftan fabric - makes you look twice. Oooh la la!
Oh, what a wonderful little Delft cow! And the doily...
ReplyDeleteWhere are your children when you are in the shop?
x Ariane.
You scored well loving the nude fabric and the bunnies book
ReplyDeleteR&S,
ReplyDeletethe delft cow does seem happy thus far. She's presently in the dishwasher, so I'm not sure how happy she is now.
Mook,
it is ASTRO TURF! Good spotting. New look for the blog. I'm liking it.
Ariane,
Sweet Ariane ... three children are at school and one sits in a sling on my hip. I can't stay long because she gets squirmish. So I don't muck around. I have taken all four to the Op Shop before. It's quite large. They think it's funny!
"Bless Zigsma"? Honestly Wendy, if you knew her you wouldn't be saying that ( I hear she eats children) ;P
ReplyDeleteI am seriously in love with the nudie fabric, a big floaty kaftan would look fabulous, when you get around to it.
Wendy blesses everyone. Bless.
ReplyDeleteOh, it looks excellent! I lurve the kitchen. You're welcome. Estelle, not so welcome. Though your children are.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see you float around in that nudie lady caftan. When it's done, you and Jason will have so much more in common than you realise! xx
ReplyDeleteThe cow is gorgeous. I also loved the astro turf. Makes complete sense to me - plastic horses would eat plastic grass.
ReplyDeleteTake care.
Doilies for pockets--brilliant. I wish my dwelling was as nice as the dollhouse. We don't have any cool wallpaper!
ReplyDeleteI adore those doilies! They'd be perfect as litlle pockets- you should definitely do it! The wallpaper looks fabulous. Perfect choices :)
ReplyDeleteI must admit concern for the one armed dolly.
ReplyDeleteThere appears to be a "c'est la vie" approach to the dismemberment.
Maybe it's a house for the disabled.
Dolly could well be blinded by her orange surrounds as well.
Is Horsey a horse doctor by chance?
You may get voted off the Sewing Square if you show up with that fabric! Love the wallpapers. And the cow.
ReplyDeletei had that bunny book as a girl. think i got it in one of the monthly book order things. i loved it so much, great little book :)
ReplyDeleteHa, that Dutch cow perfectly fits my blog! :)
ReplyDeleteI love those shelves you got from the land of grandma and that dollhouse is too cute!
Did you receive the link that I sent you of that Mid Century shop in Seattle?
Have a great weekend!
Marjan
Just wanted to check- do those horses know that cow is actually a creamer and could spew forth milk at any opportunity?
ReplyDeleteLoving that someone else openly admits to having 500 unfinished bits of projects on the go at the same time. Should challenge you to a completion of a single project dual but have committment issues. Dollshouse looking super, you could do a show, a room makeover in an hour...... no wait the poms have done that already and it's a shocker. Mel:)
Hello, So much to comment on here, so many lovely little happenings. Tell the op shop they should simply write the price on the inside page with a 2B pencil. This is very easy to rub off and saves any damage to the book...that's my technique anyway and so far no complaints ha. Hope to see you and maybe a small cowboy/cowgirl later on, cheers Katherine Rain rain go away!
ReplyDeleteand how is that degree coming???? so much to love in this poat, the bunny memories, the baby eating blue tack, the x rated muu muu.
ReplyDeleteyou are simply the best!
xo
You always have so many projects and plans 'on the boil' ... I have no idea how you find the time to get things done and live a life! :)
ReplyDeleteNot only that, but you are able to write such witty and funny posts like this one ... I bow down to your bloggy greatness! :)
ooh, pocket doilies! What a good idea!
ReplyDeleteAre you adept at surgery for the sake of that poor handless child? Hope so!
Looks like an awesome haul from the oppie. I've been ditching stuff at our oppie all week in the hope that my house might look tidier. It's kind of a loan arrangement. I buy stuff from the op shop thinking of wonderful things I will do with it; keep it for about 2 years and then return it to them.
ReplyDeleteLoving the dolls house wallpaper. Awesome stuff.
