Pots

The other week I left a note in one of my neighbours' letter boxes.

Said neighbour has had a stash of old plant-pots sitting neglected in her front yard since as far as I can remember.

A couple of these pots would call my name as I would walk the Solid Gold Dancers to-and-from school. "Carmel", they would call. "Carmel".

Hard to ignore.

My neighbour kindly accepted my request that she hand over those pots to me, so that I might breathe some new life into them.

I can see a maiden-hair fern in the brass pot. I'm not sure what to go with the West German other than to fist pump the air.

I tried to prise a couple more West Germans from said neighbour, but she refused to budge.  But that's okay.

Speaking of the Solid Gold Dancers, ticket sales to their "Neon! Neon! Let's bedazzle your glitter-socks off" Christmas Concert haven't been too great, so I suggested they do what they do best and try out as extras for a slumber-party fight scene in a block-buster movie.

Fingers crossed!

  1. The sales were just as lack lustre for my one woman performance of Macbeth in 1976.
Nice pots, esp the German x

    1. Did you play all the parts? Even the Spot? Gruelling. Did the Reviews not help? Bastards.

  2. Great pots! The WG is similar to the Scheurich I put in Pippa's hanger. I'm impressed with the SGD's fight scene so far...especially the headgear.

    1. Dana,
go idea about the hanger. Maybe that's a good solution for it. Look out of the SGD's at your nearest mega-plex.

  3. Lovely pots. Do you think your neighbor would be on to you if the other pots disappeared in the dark of night?

Solid Gold Dancers are a shoo-in for the part! They're naturals!

    1. MCM,
yes. She would know it was me. Good thinking.

The Solid Golds excel at fighting. Do what you love, I guess.

  4. What a great picture of the Solid Gold Dancers!! And I'm so glad those great pots now get to enjoy life in a house where they're loved:-) I'm sure you'll find some nice "inhabitants". I'm looking for some greenery myself, for once, I have more pots than plants:-)

    1. Tove, house plants always look so much more attractive in Mid-Century Norwegian abodes. Scandinavians seem to have house plants down pat. I'm keen to see what you pot.

  5. Would those be spoils of the Ekka being enjoyed by the Solid Gold Dancers?

  6. Fist pump away! I did that recently when a house in the hood was sold. There were concrete planters and a massive clam shell sitting neglected at the side of the house. I asked the new owners, but they were going to keep them... which is a good thing. I feared they were going to throw them in the big skip bin that was in the yard. xx

  7. Looks like there has been a solid gold 'on tour' to the ekka. You should have taken the opportunity to do a little street performance. There is actually a demand for stage combat. My sister in law had a boyfriend who specialised in fight choreographing - was a sort after speciality for a wide genre of story telling - Peter Pan stage shows to ganster movies. And you have four in your repertoire - Gold Mine!
