Most of my wardrobe consists of work suits or jeans and striped t-shirts.
I pondered contributing to Kylie's Frocktober effort by supplying a photo of my one-and-only 60s patio dress, but the winged psychedelic dress is quite 'event specific' and hard to photograph in an everyday sort of scenario.
And then I remembered the late 60s maternity dress my mother sewed for herself when she was expecting me. She never actually wore it in 1971 because she never finished the sleeves.
But when I was in my late 20s, I found it and asked that she complete the sleeves so that I could wear it.
Which I did. Quite often.
Though I haven't worn it for years.
So, today I put it on and asked my husband to take a series of photos which I could send Kylie.
My husband's response was that he only takes 'photos of crime scenes', so in an effort to look as natural as possible we only came across as completely stiff or guilty of something.
Here's a photo of me about to push my youngest, happiest child into a pool.
And here's a photo of me trying to either force her down a drain or poison her by having her consume vast amounts of water from a public watering trough.

*Don't worry. Child's still alive. Dress is in the wash.
No words. Sooooo funny!
ReplyDeleteLove the dress...and I always love your photos and commentaries. You keep me smiling.

I tried to get decent photos. No one wanted to partake. I was only trying to give Martha a drink from the bubbla. I have a heightened respect for your Frocktober photos. Stunning.
DeleteAdorable! All of you...every last one. What the frock?? Sorry, I had to say that. Love the mustache!
ReplyDeleteSo those are Salties!!!
ReplyDeleteThose are Salties. They hark from your end of the planet. Comfy.
DeleteNow you are a sight for sore eyes, or that dress is, or it's making my eyes sore. Love the collar and tie effect x
ReplyDeleteHello Max.
DeleteHi Carmel!! So great to see a photo of you in addition to your Solid Gold Dancers. Watched a clip of the Solid Gold dancers the other day and thought of you and your kiddies. : )
ReplyDeleteCool dress and shoes! I am a sucker for yellow. x
I've seen some YouTube videos of Solid Gold Dancers. Hilarious. Lots of Jazz hands.
DeleteAm I allowed to love the fabric? It truly is a 60s print, and not seen very much these days. (Don't get alarmed, but do you guys know there are hairy things on your lips, right under your nose?)
ReplyDeleteNeen, the fabric is legitimate 60s. It really is cute. What's under my nose?! I was starting to worry about my grey hair and now I have facial hair issues!xo
DeleteYou are too funny! Love the dress.
ReplyDeletexo
You look fantastic, and I loooove the dress!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the memory of that crime scene dress.
ReplyDeleteMade me think of all my personal maternity dresses I made over the years and pregnancies.
I should have kept them for such a day.
That dress is awesome. You already know how I feel about yellow salties, better than prozac for the mood. mel x
