This is the dog. Let's call him 'Noodle' because, in all honesty, that's his name.
He is about 14 years old. My mother bought him for me because I always wanted a poodle called 'Noodle'.
The only problem at the time of his purchase was that I was living in a rented house with a friend who didn't like dogs (I think it was because they lick themselves in funny places) and had no warning that I was bringing him home.
Quite selfish of me really, and I continue to feel quite bad for it. But of course, she took it all graciously and tolerated the poodle. She was at the time a legal-type and was always impeccably dressed, so her tolerance was tested when one morning by the fridge she stood in one of his sloppy puppy-poos and skidded awkwardly across the kitchen floor.
She would be horrified to know I've mentioned that. She is now the Godmother of Child 4, so she must have forgiven me and Noodle.
Anyway, Noodle is now deaf and almost blind. He has an irritating habit of following me around everywhere. The above photo was taken over my shoulder, as he was, as usual, behind me. He follows me from the dishwasher to the kitchen cupboard, back to the dishwasher then to the kitchen drawers, back to the dishwasher etc.
That was a thrilling story for you.
I'm really not in the mood for this blog. I'm irritated I can't order the photos properly, and to be honest I'm feeling a tad seedy after drinking too much white wine while watching Survivor last night. I'll add a 'Whoo-hoo' for alliterative effect.
Oh noodle, you lovable poodle. it was only a little doodle .... and not long after she found us in a canoodle.
ReplyDeleteThat's a brilliant poem! (My blog is attracting the high-brow literary types.)
