Another joke and some ephemera

Okay, here's another joke I've had stashed away since 2003. Hoarder? Me? This packing gig's a breeze! ...

A man walks into a doctor's office.

He says, "Doctor, I'm suffering from silent gas emissions. All day at work, I have these silent gas emissions. Last night during a movie, I had 10 silent gas emissions. This morning in the car on the way to your office, I had five silent gas emissions. And while waiting in your waiting room I had three silent gas emissions. Right now, as a matter of fact, I've just had two more."

The doctor replied, "Well, the first thing we're going to do is check your hearing!"

Ha!

Now, here's some meaningless ephemera I've found.

My younger brothers used to spend a lot of time selecting making Rugby teams from their toys. This photo shows the victorious Rugby Sevens United Premiers. Large Snoopy used to pack a tight scrum.

Here's a Stuart Membery tag I've kept for about 20 years. Stuart Membery used to make great clothes. Now he makes furniture. I preferred his clothes.

Remember when the BabyLand General Hospital would send your Cabbage Patch doll a First Birthday card? Thoughtful.

My sister asked me the other day if I was thinking of seeing Duran Duran when they come to Brisbane in March, but I've decided it might blur my memories of their 1983 concert. My younger brother may want to go. He missed the 1983 concert because he was trussed-up in hospital with his leg in traction. That's his ticket. It cost $20.

  1. I think you might need to stop packing for a bit and have a little lie down :)

  2. Ha!
Just on my way to bed, but this time I got it straight away! I like it, I'll tell it at breakfast and probably get it wrong.

    It's -30 here, and that's not a joke.
    Bbbbrrrr...

  3. The jokes are hilarious MMMC. You should go to Duran Duran. What a hoot it would be. Jason's a DD fan. He got me to load Wild Boys onto his iphone so he can listen to it on the way to work. xx

  4. Oh so many memories! I loved my snoopy but I spilt red cordial on him at a wildlife park when an emu stuck it's head in the car window and freaked me out. Yes I had forgotten about the cabbage patch bday cards. I had three dolls.
You should go to Duran Duran. I got into their music in 83 when my friend at school made us all sign a petition to get them to come to Tassie. No luck there but they were good times. Thanks for bringing back the memories :)

  5. Great joke! And LOVE your memories, taking me back too! Though I didn't see Duran Duran. I had a Cabbage Patch Kid though, from the time there was a display in Grace Bros (now Myer) where their heads popped up out of cabbages, and you pulled them all out for a cuddle and to look at the signature on their bum!

  6. I love your jokes. Don't you just love coming across old bits? My girls never got their birthday cards from their dolls. Maybe they all went to Australia? Hang onto that stuff it doesn't take up any room.

    It's -11C Just keeping up with L.

  7. Kerry,
    I think I'm on a roll!

    Lilli,
I'm not good telling jokes either. At least I don't have to tell them in Norwegian.

Thanks Brismod. Wild Boys. Very Jason.

    SaraB,
that story made me laugh out loud! I bought my first Dolly magazine because it had a competition to meet Duran Duran. I rode my bike to the shop to buy that magazine over-and-over for more entry forms. Do you think I met them?

    Bec,
my first Cabbage Patch was a fake. Mum had to sign its bottom herself because I was a bit miffed it wasn't the real deal. Then when Myer stocked them, Mum even bought a Cabbage Patch for Dad. They were all over the place!

    Deb,
it's muggy here. I'm guessing in the positive mid-20s.

  8. My moves have never been that interesting. I want to dig through your closets! It's a treasure trove! Keep it coming. I want to know about the house you're moving into. I want to move too. New beginnings. Very exciting.

  9. Ah! Festival Hall! Happy days. I remember seeing the Pretenders there when the lead singer walked off in a hissy fit. What WAS her name?

  10. Ah Cuddles Rugby. My team was always a distant third because they were picked on personality rather than ability to pack a scrum. Media darlings though.
