Poster hanging

I have not much to report other than my recent quest for the perfect poster hanger.

Martha got this poster from her Grandmother for Christmas. I've been keen to get it on the wall, but was hesitant to frame it because frames are so heavy and unwieldy, and a frame would destroy its 'chart' feel.

I can't tell you how many stores and art/school suppliers I've phoned trying to source a set of good old 70s plastic slides to top-and-tail it. It's impossible, despite everyone knowing what I'm talking about.

But then I found this set on etsy (here). I think they'll set-off this poster perfectly.

That's about it for now.

  1. They're a good find. Etsy has some great stuff. You could buy some of that half dowell from bunnings and tack it top and bottom and hang with some string - vintage map style? ..... not as nice and polished as your picture but an option maybe?

    1. Liz, I did think of using dowel, but thought the stapling process would be too complicated. I may end-up revisiting that idea.

  2. That's so much better than the old plastic slides. I bet you're glad you couldn't find them. :)

    1. Dana, I found some plastic slides on ebay. Of course!

The wooden holders will end-up costing $85 to post from the US! That's just too crazy.

  3. If you don't get those (lovely) etsy ones, I've got two black plastic slidey thingies you can have x
They were attached to a vintage t.towel I bought from an oppy. Etsy ones much nicer though. In fact I need a couple myself!

    1. Kylie,

thank you for your kind offer. The poster is 730mm across the top. I've found some plastic slides that are 920mm, and I think I should be able to tackle them with a stanley knife.

  13. I remember those plastic hangers from back in the day. You used to be able to find them in every newsagent. How sad!
