This is my last post on Moomin. Promise.
Seriously, you'd swear the Tove Jansson Trust had me on the payroll.
A while ago, I bought (in accordance with my strict 2011 Year of Frugality Declaration to Limit International Internet Purchases) some Moomin fabric with which to make Martha a stripy-sort-of Moomin doona cover.
It arrived the other day wrapped in Moomin brown paper with two Moomin lollies!
That's too cute to keep to myself.
From here on in, I'll declare a moratorium on Moomin ... but we're all still reading the books and loving them and laughing! and looking for more and making Moomin jokes with each other.
Dear MMMC,
ReplyDeletethank you for your sweet comment...I sweat blood during drawing. Now I know, why I prefere taking pictures by a camera...
The mumins are very nice. I didn't hear, or see, them before! Thank you for meet them at your place. A doona cover for Martha will be beautiful! I want to see it!
Hugs, Ariane
Oh, no - no Moomin? Now I'll have to go and get my own book!
ReplyDeleteI'd be tempted to make a doona cover out of the wrapping paper it's so sweet. As are the sweets. From where did you order these delights?
ReplyDeleteI never tire of the Moomins; I believe in a little Moomin every day. Puts everything into perspective.
ReplyDeleteThat fabric is so wonderful, I wonder where you got hold of that. Especially the one with the oldest illustrations; that would make great curtains, I think. And the paper! Please let us know!

Oh, that last part is so sweet! Where do you find all these interesting things? The fabric is adorable. You know I'm totally interested in wee things now.
ReplyDeleteHow did I miss the dollhouse post ...those little hippos are so cute.
ReplyDeleteI have to go back and see if I have missed other posts!!
I could move into one of those doll houses and be happy forever.
Have you heard of the magazine Atomic Ranch I guess it's all Mid-Century, I'm looking for a copy!
LOVE the new header. Its so....2011! fresh and lively.
ReplyDeleteAriane,
ReplyDeleteI hope you do some more drawings. I was amazed at what you created ... but of course your photos are beautiful too. What a talent to have.
Catherine, definitely get a boook .. but why stop at one in the 2011 The International Year of Frugality?
Zigsma,
let's just say they didn't come from Santiago.
Lilli,
I can't tell which fabric has the oldest illustrations! I like the yellow one best.
Deb, I saw the other day you can even get cute Moomin mobiles ... I'll send you a photo.
Heidi,
the Moomins would be most affronted to hear you called them 'hippos'! They were locked in a zoo once because the Board of the Zoo thought they were hippos (they were released, thank goodness!). I have heard of Atomic Ranch Magazine ... as soon as 2011 The International Year of Frugality ends it's the first subscription I'm taking up.
I am lovin the Moomins. Gorgeous material. Might have to search BCC library catalogue.....
ReplyDeletePS welcome back to public viewing,
They are just too cute. What are you going to do with the paper? I was thinking maybe a covering for school books perhaps. Or maybe you could cut panels and put them over some other paper so they would go further. These are the important issues that I think about during my day...its true. Another important question...who gets to eat the lollies?
ReplyDeleteYou'll have to bring the Moomin books for sharing with this Moominless household.
ReplyDeleteI could do with the odd laugh and the necessity to go deeper into my private fantasy world with some new fantastic friends who whisper their very own secrets.
Precious paper.
Tasty treats.
OMG! How special is that? Wrapped in brown (Moomin) paper ... that's an old school treat in itself! I'm cool with the Moomin posts. Found some Barbapapa on the Book Depository but all of the books seem to be in every language except English :-(
ReplyDeleteYou make me smile: 2011 Year of Frugality Declaration to Limit International Internet Purchases :)

No, no- don't let this be the last Moomin post. :) I love your fabric choices. Three pieces of moomin fabric just arrived here too -with the same lollies & paper. I saved them as well. :) Look forward to seeing your quilt. I'm adding some of mine to Sayer's quilt that I have yet to make....
