The Dutch Master's Gone Global

Some of you may know I have a Mid-Century ceramics supplier in the Netherlands.

We're on a personal names basis. I call him 'Menno' and he calls me 'God, it's that irritating woman from Australia who always emails me and never actually spends that much'.

Menno is, quite possibly, the nicest merchant in Mid-Century breakable collectibles I've ever known. His customer service is flawless, and his packaging of breakable collectibles is beyond-failsafe belief.

He has opened a new Etsy shop 1001 Vintage with some of his stylish International colleagues ... pictured here are some of the things I'd purchase if I hadn't signed that stupid International Declaration to End MMMC child poverty because MMMC Buys Too Much Rubbish.

Menno has beautiful and charming things ...

Much of his personal ceramics collection came from his artist grandmother.

You should click on this link to read more about my Dutch Master friend. Menno and his friends are getting the much-deserved attention of bigger and better blogs than this!

You'll be able to see where he lives and works.

  2. I find it soo bizarre to read a post dated " Tuesday, March 1" when, where I am, it's still Monday, February 28.
    Glad you back blogging again!

  3. Hello Evelyn,
thank you. Did you read the Herman Miller interview? Menno is so cute I could squeeze his cheeks, which would distract him while my highly-trained small army-of-four clear his Amsterdam flat of all its collection!

  4. How nice! Menno must be suffering because of your non shopping agreement so he had to find other means. I'm heading over to visit him.

  8. So you've fallen off the wagon, Ms MMMC?! Goodo, nice to be back in the saddle with you again. Now, that dress is really a frock, fit perhaps for a graduation ceremony. I love that DMC uses 'moomin' as a vowel 'cause I swear that's how it's meant to be used.

  9. They're gorgeous, especially the blue piece. Really, when you think about it, is the declaration really helping your children? Don't you think that by purchasing some of these goodies you'd get an immense feeling of wellbeing and that would in turn be passed onto your children. Everyone benefits!

  10. Oh, it was good to see you in my reader, MMM-C! Hate that silly old declaration, and rules such as those are made to be broken...

  12. Thank God you're back. I'm not TOTALLY blaming you for my world slipping slightly off it's axis, but you may have contributed (no pressure - sorry). So I'm so glad to read you again. I'm personally a big fan of scaling back frequency when required and I may have to do that myself I think.

Anyway, glad you're back. And stop signing stuff.

  14. Brismod,
I'm sure you have your three lads trained to STAY AWAY! from the breakables. Mine wrestle perilously close, so everything is breakable in my eyes.

    Annie,
I refuse to go to graduation cememonies ... so I'll keep the dress for much less tedious occasions!

SarahB, I like your thought processes. It seems quite logical the argument you put.

    Wendy,
Wendy. Wendy. Wendy. I have no commitment. I hope your Florida family loves your youngest to bits.

    O&E,
it is a great shop. I wonder how foreign electrical appliances would plug-in here ... I guess you'd have to take them to an electrician.

    Anna,
thank you. Take it easy. You do more than I do. You may have to have a mental breakdown like I did.

Hello kma! It's Karen, everyone! It was lovely to meet you the other day. Katherine is very nice. I'm sorry I was distracted by my children. I hope you've done all the sanding you needed to do ... maybe we'll meet again in Katherine's front yard ... even if she's not at home!

I just looked at that little alarm clock ... it's not electrical. Problem solved.
