Crazy toy shops!

Because I have nothing better to do all day, I spend my time trawling the Internet.

Oh yes, I have children to look after and some intellectual activity to pursue but, you tell me, what's more important?

Anyway, as you'd know, one site leads to another, which caused me to come across this site the other day ... Firebox.com

It looks as dodgy as all-get-out, but it sells reproductions of vintage Fisher Price.

That got me interested.

Then I started scrolling the other toys ... on the off-chance there'd be some Sylvanian Families ... and then I noticed the copywriting for the various products they sell.

Hilarious! There is obviously some poor frustrated copywriter who's just letting themselves do what they want because they're being paid pittance to sell rubbish!

Oh what a feeling, driving on the ceiling!

Putty Monsters

 You really knead 'em!

Sound Machine.

I beg your pardon!

Cuddly Hottie.

Awwww, bless!

Evil Knievel Rip-Pull.

Today your desk, tomorrow Snake Canyon.

A-Team Car
Shuddup, fool!

You should have a look! It's more amusing in situ.

  1. My kids would be all over that Putty Monster. Seriously, if Santa just gave them that, they'd be happy campers. There's always someone out there that's going to love that stuff...just like my kids...perhaps they need to get out more.

  2. funny, I picked up an almost mint Fisher Price record player for Ada from OAkliegh market a couple of weeks ago for $10. Ive been meaning to blog about it but every time I try to take a photo it gets ripped away and played with (kids huh).
Vintage fisher Price was never something I thought about collecting but it is really beautiful and well, they just don't make toys the way they use to.

  3. Oh, that TV! My brother and I shared one of those, and watched the little "movie" a million times, hidden under a desk.
I'm a bit strict and old fashion about toys, I loath all the fragile plastic rubbish. Even if they are labeled "The Original"... and can drive on the ceiling.

  4. Lilli, I agree. All those toys are horrible. And if they came into my house, I'd throw them away. But I do like the vintage Fisher Price. We had the record player and I can distinctly remember the 'tinny' music.

I thought the comments on the website were amusing.

  5. Is 1980's Fisher Price considered vintage yet? I too loathe plastic toys. When I was a youngster we had nice, shiny, tin dollhouses, cars, trucks, etc. to cut ourselves on. Those were the daze!
Now get back to studying missy.

  7. Deb,
I'd go so far as saying stuff from the 80s is getting to the point of vintage! It shouldn't be, but we're all marching on. They're reproducing a lot of tin toys now too.

Wendy, I thought the same thing when I read some of the toy comments. I wonder who the copywriter is, and whether they amuse themselves, or are so sick of their job, they just write anything stupid because they don't give a damn.
