Today. Let's get it over and done with.

For the first time, I made some Caramel and Chocolate slice last night. It should look like this.

Donna Hay is a master stylist. But I always have problems with her recipes.

At the caramel stage, it looked like this in the oven.

I don't think that's meant to happen. The Husband said he's seen skin like that at a morgue.
Needless to say, we're not wolfing down the caramel slice.

Today I wrapped some parcels which I'm excited to send.

The Husband gave me these Eames stamps a couple of years ago ... I have never opened them, and today I decided what's the point of having them if they're not used? So I began to put them into operation.

My application's a bit rough, and at one point that would have bothered me, but the contradiction between the imperfect stamp and the perfect piece of design that it's representing, is an ironic harmony.
That's my argument.

And then we played on the verandah.

Despite having these two gorgeous things for company, I'm in a really bad mood.

And I can't get the word 'bubonic' out of my head.
Fin.

  2. MMMC: "Do you want some of my Caramel Slice, Liesl?"

Liesl: "Yes, fleas! I mean, please! Actually, no."

  3. Beauty in food is overrated, no? Did they still taste good? Or were they inedible after the cadaver thing? I feel better today. Maybe you took over my crappy mood? Sorry about that. But thanks.

  6. I've never baked my caramel slice. I usually bake the base, make the caramel on the stove and then poor it over the cooled base. Could it be that Donna Hay may have lead you astray?
On the other hand, you have just created the perfect Halloween treat for all those little chocolate beggars. Zombie skin slice anyone?

  7. Oh what a guffaw inducing slice you have. Did you put the chocolate on top of those blisters? Seriously funny. Love an oxymoron. What a beautiful present those stamps were. Great stamping. Gorgous kids. Stare at their photo and your slice and let out a good laugh!

  8. Ooh I saw those stamps at the WAC and I instantly thought of you and Anita...they also had block puzzles that were very cute too. I can't believe you havn't eaten that slice I would have eaten regardless...and there in lies my problem haha. Now whats this with the bad mood...me thinks you have been avoiding your assignments....give yourself a good slap, just jokes. Hope you are feeling happy soon.

  9. Slice is being slowly eaten. The chocolate covered the pustules of caramel.

Not sure it was meant to look like that though!

  10. I'm in a bit of a better mood now.

MM, that's right. At the start, food should look like it ends up looking anyway ie like a great big chopped-up mess. Then no one's fooled.

Catherine, the chocolate did help hide the blisters.

Brismod, your xx's always make me a bit happier.

Estelle, when it's Halloween, I turn all the lights off and pretend no one's home!

R&S, I like your oxymoron as well. That's the high standard literary of this blog in action!

OBH, have given myself a good slap and a kick up the ARRR's for good measure, and that's why I'm feeling a bit more chipper!

  12. I LOVE those stamps! Where can you find them?

I was in a bad mood today too - but your emails cheered me up.

That old boathouse is rather astute - I suspect it's correct. But you need a break from the monotony of study. You return to it all refreshed and Norsca'd.

  14. (Hope it wasn't me who upset you :) <-- nervous smile) I can make food taste good, but I can't bake, "something" always happen in the oven. It's beyond my control; as long as it tastes good, nobody cares. The stapms, the stamps... love them. Much nicer than potato-stamps. Hope you're happy again now.

wasn't you! Good grief, you Norwegians!:)
(:? nervous smile!). Actually, my cooking generally tastes good too ... but looks like dog food. Maybe there's a cookbook in that?

  16. What does it matter what it looks like - it's CHOCOLATE and caramel and biscuit. Gimme, gimme! Actually just as well you live 12000 miles away as I am on the Hip and Thigh diet and doing OK so far.
BTW - we call that biscuit "Millionaire's Shortbread" - as they do in Scotland where Mr EM hails from.

(I hope you gave child4 lots!)

  17. Your hubby's remark about the slice is rather off putting but I would probably eat it anyway. Hence my voluptuous figure. Love the stamps too, very stylish, didn't know you were a crafty thing.
Hope My emails didn't make you grouchy!
