One funny blog and a serious blog ...

Today, I'm just going to direct you to some things ...

So, here is a funny blog called crochet bloke found through finelittleday

(An addendum re the crochetbloke blog - you have to read lots of posts. His wit is sporadically scarce).

And here is a seriously cute blog called ledansla which I found through Kickcan and Conkers.

So, to recap, that was one funny blog and, actually, three serious blogs.

What do you think?

On another topic, how do you people read this blog?

I've only just discovered 'Google Reader' in the last five minutes ... though it doesn't let you comment or read others' comments, from my limited and quick understanding. I never knew you could read blogs that way.

Away!

  1. That Ledansla is a seriously cute blog cannot believe how many talented photographers there are in cyberspace. Makes me embarrased to put my crap photos out there.

Lots of people swear by google reader I think it is more user friendly. I am not sure about that I get a bit freaked out by all the posts I haven't read!

  2. I know nothing about google reader. I just use curlypops's list so I can keep mine smaller and more specific. Thanks superpops! I still love to come here though. Cherrie

  3. I find google reader a bit of a pain actually, all that jumping about and all. I add all the blogs I follow to the bottom of my blog and if I see something that interests me, I jump straight to it there or from Dashboard. On the subject of funny blogs, one of my old school friends had just started a blog and let me into her secret last night ... her comments on eggs are hilarious. http://roaringhousewife.blogspot.com/

  4. I usually read via blogger or from my blog itself. Google reader is for speed reading or to keep up to date reading. I also liked your blog discoveries. xx

  5. Just discovered Google Reader myself; I kind of like it! If I know that I want to comment (and I always do when I'm here, except on a few occasions when I don't think I get it... that's my own fault :) I don't use the Reader. (Yes, I know I should be in bed, but I'm painting the kitchen, so I'm allowed to be up late!) Squeeze Martha for me!

  6. I also don't bother with google reader...just use the bloglist my blog. Lazy, lazy...

  7. Golly, you lot are on-the-ball today!

    Jane,
your photos are fine! But i have to agree, there's some serious photography going on out there... and layout expertise that I don't have.

Willywagtail, riding on CurlyPops' coat tails! Good for you!

Nessaknits, I'll have a squizz at your pal's blog. I generally use the Dashboard too. I'm used to it now.

Brismod, they are all gorgeous blogs I put up. I'm still wrapping my head around the Feeburner thing you suggested. I don't even know what the hell that thing does!

Lilli, I think you are an insomniac. I've shoved Martha Mary in her cot hoping she'll have a nap ... so the squeeze will have to wait. (Love too to Possum when she wakes with the sun. You'll be exhausted!)

  8. Based on your blog today I have a Declaration. I am declaring today "Monday ~ Plug Your Mates" day on my blog! http://nessaknit.blogspot.com/2010/10/monday-plug-your-mates.html

  9. I just noticed you changed your sidebar. Well done! You want to retire where it's cold?!!

  10. I read your blog through the bloglist (favourites created by me) on my blog homepage. It updates all new posts and these are placed chronologically. I didn't actually know there was any other way. I don't actually spend any time whatsoever to being very techno-savvy or techno-adventurous.

Speaking of crazy-internet related stuff, here's my little gripe. Blog writers who offer giveaways are increasingly restricting entering giveaways to people who 'follow' them, join their facebook site or something about twittering??? I don't actually do any of that stuff and don't want to. In the words of Austin Powers, 'it's just not my bag, baby!'. Anyway, I've been increasingly wondering why these restrictions are in place and what's in it for the bloggers offering the giveaways. Any insights? (sorry, got a bit off track)

  11. Wendy,
I may stick to what I know ie the bloglist. The Google Reader is weird. Complicated, complicated ...

Deb, yes my law notes said 'brighten things up around here' ... I'm only half-way done. I didn't think of the cold. My falsies will chatter!

Bernice, I guess 'give-awayers' want people to be official 'readers' or 'followers' before they can enter a certain giveaway.

I know if I was giving something away (I have nothing to give-away people, except my love) I wouldn't want 'unknowns' putting their hands-up wanting to be part of the draw. Have I understood your question? I'm never twittering.

  12. I read you via my google reader, then if I want to comment I just click and open up your blog.
I have 463 subscriptions in my reader so there's no way I could visit all those blogs every day to see whether they've been updated.
    I loooooooove my reader!

  13. Good grief, Curly Pops! 463! When do you sleep?

  14. Luckily most don't post every day... hence I've been a little quiet on the comment front during blogtoberfest while the posting has gone mad!

  15. I use Google Reader because I've signed up to follow a ridiculous number of blogs - and I've categorised them into 'Dailies', 'Artists', 'Cooking', 'Craft', etc - so I always have over 1000 posts to read (that'll NEVER happen), so I just check my 'Dailies' (that's you) when I have the time. If I need inspiration in other areas, I'll take a look there.
And just like CurlyPops, I click, open and comment on blogs when I have something to say.
    Like now.
    So there you go!

  16. I use Google Reader on the iPad but didn't know I could categorise them as suggested by the comment above. Google Reader has a right arrow at the top of each blog post which will redirect you to the blog's website where you can comment, etc from there. Google Reader is certainly handy on the iPad. I usually do my big blog reading whilst at swimming lessons. When at home, I like to look at blogs via their own blog sites.
