200th post ... seven things ...

I've been tagged as a Versatile Blogger by Ms Cotton Kiwi!  Thank you, You!

Check out her blog, she's one funny lady! And she can sew. And she has rat problems. Don't we all?

I'm stoked, of course! I never thought these sort of things would happen ... Anyway, according to tradition, you list Seven Evil Things that you'd Never Want Known About You and you tag another 15 people to do the same ...

So, Seven Evil Things I'd Never Want you To Know About Me ... I have a lot more, by the way...

1. I have been sprayed in the face with capsicum spray - let that be a lesson never to try and steal a police officer's gun.

2. I broke my arm in 1981 rollerskating on the carpet of Skaters' Paradise in Southport.

Not speedskating backwards in the tandem skate on the skating rink listening to Kim Wilde's Kids in America. No. But on the carpet.

Let that be a lesson that you never play Tiggy on carpet in rollerskates.

3. I am only 5ft tall. I, therefore, have problems finding pants that fit.

Underpants fit, because they're always long enough in the legs. But 'slacks'? I generally don't bother ...

4. I detest cane toads. I can't even run over them in a car ... they repulse me that much. Which is ironic because I should be mowing them down in an effort to eradicate the species. If you really want me to hate you, come running at me with a cane toad.

5. If I wasn't married to the Husband, I'd seriously consider stalking James May from that English car show with the other two fool-commentators. I'm not interested in the show; just James May. The Husband loves James May as much as me ... so we should try adopting him.

6. Once, in the middle of the night, in the small town of Assisi in Italy, I drove a five-door Citroen with Belgium-plates, and two passengers, down a dimly-lit bumpy street. The said 'bumpy street' was, in fact, a set of stairs leading to someone's front porch. I, therefore, found myself wedged on someone's front balcony stuck in the car with two passengers. I had visions of having the car lifted out by helicopter. But with the help of St Francis, managed to reverse us - wheels smoking - the Hell Out of There!

7. I am fanatical about spelling, punctuation and grammar. I constantly re-edit my posts. Yes. I do!?!

Now I nominate, 15 other joggers bloggers ... but, because I my maths isn't brilliant, and a lot of my blog roll is Scandinavian, I'll nominate three:

Anna Bartlett - you're it!

Zigsma - you're it!

Kotaatok - you're it!

  1. You're a bit of a dark Horsey, aren't you?

Cane toads and turkeys can both go live on an island together. Oh, that's right. They all ready did!

  2. AA,
Yes, I think you mean the island continent Australia.

  3. Those toads are disgusting! You are one evil lady. I'm five feet tall as well. Don't they sell petite length clothes over there?!

    Yours in shortness,

  4. Driving down the stairs in Italy was very amusing! Congrats on your award! Don't think detesting a cane toad evil - if you want evil (confession here) it would be my putting a huge rock on one in the garden in a frenzied panic, as you'll never bring me to bag & freeze one. Anyway two weeks later, we lift said rock and toad hopped away.

  5. What a classic, you are! Driving down the stairs in Italy is a novel way to sight-see. Hilarious! xx

  6. Deb,
they do sell petite clothes in some shops ... but they're not my style usually. And often they're still too big in the waist etc.

    Being short annoys me.

    R&S,
I'd believe you about that toad story. I used to live in FNQ, and the trick is that you spray them with Dettol(I'm going to get arrested for this by the RSPCA). You put it in one of those trigger-gun spray bottles (so that you can stand well-away from them) and you spray their backs ... it burns them.

Yours in only loving cute furry creatures,

  7. Forgive yourself, MMMC. Back in the FNQ days the beloved used phenol cleanser on the beasties. It would disgruntle them but not dispose of them. We would also watch them swim around the pool for days getting yellower and slower. Our dainty housemate, Jason, would often wake us with a blood curdling scream in the early morning when he would check the filter basket and they all shot out like billiard balls across the pool.
    'orrible things!

  8. I love that you've been Maced. That makes me happy. And you'll love this: ten years ago, working for Landrover Magazine in London, I had lengthy, flirtatious dealings with James May as he wrote a story about retracing the steps of T E Lawrence through Jordan. Jealous? Don't be stealing my gun, lady. I'll Mace you. AND I'll tell James.

  9. AA,
so all these years I've been thinking I've killed a whole lot of cane toads with Dettol, and I've merely just sterilised them?

    Milady,
I wasn't laughing at the time. Thank goodness it was midnight and the whole town was asleep.

    MM,
I hate you (in the nicest possible way) and you haven't even run at me with a cane toad!

  10. Love that you were a roller skater. I was too and often bore my children with this fact. Would like the back story on the capsicum spray.....very funny. Totally get the spelling thing, but I admit I cannot spell etc to save myself despite a double major in English lit at uni....You are a classic cheers Katherine

  11. Dear Make Mine Mid Century,
I hate cane toads too. They're up there with rats in my view and I am very very scared of them. Thanks for commenting on my blog!

  12. The rollerskating and citroen incidents had me in stitches. You're mad. Love it.

  13. Yes, you just confirmed everything I suspected to be true about you... yes, I knew it! Very glad we don't have toads, at least not that size, here... and concerning stairs. The press had a feast (<--- is that a word?) here when the wife of a politician drove down the stairs in front of the Royal Castle (if you Google it, you'll see that those stairs are hard to miss :)
"I am fanatical about spelling, punctuation and grammar" <--- he, he... this scared me the most!

  14. Viilhvile,
it always takes me so long to type your name because I get confused by the v's and i's ... cane toads are disgusting creatures.

I might do a blog on disgusting creatures ... I'm sure they're none in Norway.

  15. Oh your Citroen story is just the best ... I love it! (I think it beats the time I got stuck on the M4 in England in the dark ... in the rain ... on my own and with the sunroof stuck in the open position.)

    I adore Captain Slow too.

  16. A fabulous list of things. Very impressed. And I nominate you to star in the next Italian job movie. With your porch driving skills, Top Gear watching and petite stature you would be perfect for hard case mini-driving. (and please email me with more details about the gun stealing. I'm intrigued!)
