You may find yourself standing in the kitchen muttering, "Shouldn't I be doing something?"
Or you may just flop exhaustedly on the couch with the kids, or someone who looks like Gordon from Sesame Street, to watch some mindless television.
You could sit at your desk and slur, "Bugger university! I'm gonna think up something completely ridiculous for my blog".
And so the days pass ... but sometimes, something unexpected happens! Something extraordinary. Something shocking!
Like this!
Oh no!
God help me. Ouch!
Ugh, the infantile mucus! Call an ambulance!
You know where this is headed with lights and sirens, Three Readers!
That's right.
To the Fisher Price Family Children's Hospital.
It's a rosy, cosy place where all the staff get paid and where's there's no Commonwealth/State bickering over funding control.
Where mid-wives don't give you conflicting breastfeeding advice.
Where cleaners don't barge in with a roaring vacuum during rest time.
And where, for every child you have, the Husband endows you with a piece of Georg Jensen jewellery!
Oh, what a magical, mystical, healing place!
oh how I laughed ... and for so many reasons.
ReplyDeleteAnd I have never seen such a hospital before. Hours of fun (obviously). Really made me feel like I was 8 visiting my 'only child' cousin's house. "But Mum, I really don't want my 3 sisters, I just really want what she's got!"
Ha! You're an easy laugh, R3. I think the hospital was my brother's. I hope he doesn't want it back. I'm having too much fun with it, and I have to fight with Child 3 when I decide it's 'my turn'.
ReplyDeleteSo funny! I don't think I've seen the hospital before either.
ReplyDeleteThat's not a Qld public hospital.
ReplyDeleteI can tell.
Everyone is smiling.
What happened to Gordon? Does he just sit around watching tv, rather than be there when the going gets tough?
ReplyDeleteThe hospital lift was the coolest, as was the x-ray machine. What was the bell for?
Ct - ask not for whom the bell tolls ....
ReplyDeleteI rang the bell yesterday during the photo shoot and wondered what it was for. Funny, I never queried its 'ding' when I was little.
ReplyDeleteI think it's to summon the butler. In the FP Children's Hospital, you can have a butler.
And Gordon, he does just sit around ageing well.
