It's freezing!

Three Readers,
I know you're scattered far and wide, across the four corners of the globe ... and many of you have experienced more extreme weather conditions than me, who lives in the sub-tropics.

But, by crikey it's freezing today!

I can be admirably stoic. See, here I am being stoic on my first Communion ... my headband is slipping dangerously close to my nose, and I'm suffering through it.

But when it's a bit gusty and chilly, well ... the Poodle becomes somewhat agitated, despite his being deaf and almost blind, and it drives me nuts.

He insists on tip-tapping, up and down the wooden floorboards, back-and-forth, non-stop, back-and-forth.

All the while the back door needs to remain open because he races outside, in-and-out, and if his trajectory is blocked he whines his Poodle whine.

So, with that in the background, I thought I'd warm the cockles of my heart and show you some photos I came across this morning.

I was just reading some Law notes and they said, "Go and look in some drawers ..." so I did, and these are some of what I found.

Here is my mother looking young and happy, before she had five children.

Here is my mother, looking slightly older; still looking happy after she's had five children, but she had a glass of something in her hand which probably helped.

Here is my Dad. He's lying in bed with two animals and he's wearing dirty work shorts. That probably wouldn't have made my mother happy. I know I'd be ropable!

Here I am circa 1982, I've got a 'head full of music' and 'I'm wired for sound'!

I was holidaying in Hervey Bay ... it's like Hawaii because both destinations start with the letter 'H'.

Maintaining the 'H' theme ... here is the Husband when he was an itty-bitty. He looks cute.

The High Court is calling me to read its pronouncements ... away!

  1. A photo says a thousand words. All very much appreciated MMM-C.
Btw, who is that feisty young miss to the left of photo three?

  3. That she does! I can vouch for that expression of excitement and anticipation for the next post.

  4. She was a cute little laughy, somewhat crazy, type of child. I don't know any other child who declared she wanted to be a racehorse ... or failing that, a witch ... or a balloon.

  6. Just re-looked at the headphones shot, and realised I was sporting some kinda killer mullet!

  7. Great pics. Will have to show my Holy Communion pic one day. We look scarily similiar Carmel. We lived in the bush and I got in trouble for getting red dirt all over my white knee-high, lace trimmed socks before Mass. I did not look as angelic as you, but I really thought I looked beautiful, just like a bride (of Christ)
And my Mum looked pretty and happy too before she had five children - she never took to the vino like yours though...pity.

  8. I love the slipping headband. It reminds me of the Easter I struggled with a hoop skirt. Sometimes you simply have to endure those things to please your mother, who is so blinded by your adorableness that she doesn't even notice the "technical difficulties."
